2025 Lake Treatment Plans and Financial Help Needed

Posted: 4/16/2025

Last year, the Findley Lake Watershed Foundation successfully treated the north half of Findley Lake for Eurasian Watermilfoil, funded by a grant from Chautauqua County. This year, we aim to treat the southern portion of the lake, but we did not receive a grant for treatment. To proceed, we need your help.

We have submitted three DEC permit applications for the following treatments:
1.  Eurasian Watermilfoil
2.  Nuisance Sago or Small Pondweed – As an alternative to Eurasian Watermilfoil treatment in the south end if that is not advisable or permitted.
3.  Potentially hazardous algal blooms

To fund these treatments this summer, we will need to rely on donations of up to $33,000 that are above and beyond membership fees, last year’s fundraising raffle and cost savings from using the harvester less.

Do you remember how there were fewer weeds last year? The planned treatments will continue to improve the water quality and allow us to enjoy Findley Lake to its fullest with our friends and family.  Please consider pledging a donation to help enhance Findley Lake this summer.

Contact us here with your pledge amount and contact details. We will contact you when we receive the permits to collect your pledged donation.  You may have also just received your membership renewal letter.  Consider adding a donation to your membership renewal here or donating separately online here.

Thank you so much for your continued support!
